Adverts
While doing my research i discovered that most local newspapers have advertisement for business in the surrounding area.
The first advert i happened to come across was an advert for spec savers that allowed the reader to get an eye test worth £5. The picture is not very clear but the background is pale green which is the companies colour. They have used a large blocked font for the offer to make sure that it is noticed by the reader. They have included some terms and conditions in small font underneath.
The next advert i found was to inform individuals about a wedding fair that is going on around their area. They have used a picture of the bride and groom kissing which is the most famous part of a wedding. They have used the colour purple which is suppose to represent success maybe with their marriage. They have done a modern font that has flicks at the end of the letters. This advert has a stylish feel to it because the reader is going to be judging the type of products they do there by the appearance of the advert.
The next advert that caught my attention was Majestic Coach Holiday's. They are advertising for one of their routes through France. They have only used black and white which made it fade into the page however they have been clever with how they have done it. They used the colour black to create themselves a border, and boxes for key information they want to stand out. The only images they have used is a small beer glass and a television to go with their promotion of a 99p bar. From the fact that they have highlighted the pricing and bars i would say they are going for a target audience of C2 and D that are elderly.
The Times has the same three adverts for about a month, one being this company that fit doors into peoples homes. They have done a simple advert by using images of their products in the background. They have then used some bold and bright font put diagonally across the image. At the bottom they have included their companies logo for reader to recognise and the telephone number for them to get hold of the company.
This advert is another one from the times. This advert is promoting a business that fix garage doors on peoples homes. They have also got a simple design by have one background colour which they have chosen yellow with black writing. They have used the largest font for their title which cleverly is also their website for the business therefore they save space. Directly under they have listed everything that the business can do. Then they have used three picture of garages that they have fitted or repaired successfully. For the pictures they have done diffrent angles on each picture so the reader can see each side. They have then included their adress of the shop. The largest thing on the advert is the telephone number for people to call to ask questions.
The last advert that is included in the times is about a carpet shop in nailsea. They are promoting there rug sale they are having currently. They have used two pictures of their products that would be in the sale with the percentage of discount you will recive. They have then done a banner with the amount of time left untill they go back to normal price. They done their font in yellow which makes it stand out on the page because it is all white, black and dark purple. They have uncluded the types of rugs they have in the sale. Lastly they have included their adress and telephone number.
In the Weston Daily Press i found an advert for family lawyers that deal with divorces. This advert is unusual in the way it does not included a picture but this is down to the nature of the business. However they have also not included any colour maybe because it is an upsetting topic therefore they don't want to make the advert happy and bright. They have given themselves a border with curved edges which i think gives it a bit of a style rather than just writing. They are informing individuals that they can have an free interview to review their situation.
